'Hope' Poem by Pushpinder Kaur

'Hope'

HOPE

In times such as now
When the eye searches in the sky
For any planes
Taking people to their dear ones
Bridging distances
Sweeping Time
When the stillness of the streets
The graphs of deaths soaring
The continuation of the lockdown
And of E-learning
Until when
The hope of reuniting with
Children and parents
Hangs in the air
The mind tosses and turns
Making the hours of the night
Grow longer
Until
With a sudden leap
The dawn soon
Lies behind
The soaring sun
The overlapping sunlight
And the heat of the Sun
Sits, silently, slyly, yet
Surely
Perhaps its times
Such as these
That lead the mind
To feel overwhelmed
By the all-enveloping beams of the sun
Until the mind wakes up
And salutes the day
To have begun well
Bringing Hope…
