Hospital Visit Poem by Jade lee

Hospital Visit

As always we’ve arrived early
As we wonder through the lobby
I have some idea of where to go
And you were only steps behind

As we wait for the nurses to call
We sat silently in the waiting room
As I flip through the magazines
You watched your world news

I’ll translate what they say to make it clear for you
I’ll answer questions for you whenever I can
I’ll ask you for confirmation if I wasn’t sure
I’ll do my best to keep you informed

I’m glad to be at your assistance
When you come face to face with the unknown
Trusting your life in the hands of strangers
Hope my presence gave you comfort and reassurance

I appear calm and collected
Only because I know in my heart
That it wasn’t life threatening
But I’m always concerned

As you lay on the bed waiting to the surgeon
I wondered what was on your mind
Were you scared? Having second thoughts?
Wondering what to do if anything shall go wrong?

I wanted to tell you “don’t worry dad”
Everything will be just fine
We are all drown up
We can fend for ourselves
You just concentrate on getting better
Tomorrow we’ll be living life again!
