Hostage To My Heart Poem by JoAnn McGrath

Hostage To My Heart

Hostage To My Heart

I'm a hostage to my heart
That which the marrow and essence impart
A prisoner and captive claimed
When tenderness and compassion named
So too the spoils
When my heart recoils
and the beating heart departs
I'm a hostage to my heart
