Hours Waiting Poem by M. W. Taylor

Hours Waiting

Rating: 4.0

How many hours of our lives
do we spend in waiting rooms?
On hold.
How many hours waiitng
on buses and trains.
Spent in airports,
waiting.

We live in a world where
the entirety of human knowledge
and history, and culture,
and thoughtless facebook posts
are at our fingertips
and here we sit,
waiting
beside speechless zombies
with their headphones in
or scared old ladies
who can't tell two teenagers apart.

How many hours have we spent
struggling to get out of bed?
Head stuck to the pillow
and devoid of motivation?
How many hours have we spent
not singing in the shower,
and seeing the world in shades of grey.
How many hours have we spent
sucking the happiness out of life?

Nice poem. The first two stanzas are very apt.
