House Of Buffons Poem by Kewal Paigankar

House Of Buffons

Rating: 5.0

In the gallery of the grotesque
Theatre of the absurd
In the chamber of fools
Where clowns sit, smirking and pompous
Laughing at us, unflustered
By their betrayal of the multitudes
While we weep, reflecting
On how they brought the great edifice down
To be a monument of shame.

When cretins and comedians
Preside over us
Intoxicated by arrogance
With no hint of remorse
It is time to bring the curtain down
On democracy as we know it.
For mockery and greed
Are the order of the day
In the kingdom of the asinine
Where the one-eyed imbecile reigns supreme.

Laugh at us no more nor mock us.
Even in the palace of tomfoolery
Nincompoops have no seat.
They have long been sent
To a zoo as star exhibits.
