How Are We? Poem by Vaishnavi Singh

How Are We?

We have tongue, but say lies,
We see wrong, but ignore our eyes.
We eat fruits, but cut the tree,
How strange are we!

We trust our enemy, not friends,
We don't bother to think of ends;
We do evil forgetting the good,
A bit of value wrongs our mood.

Water is essential, but we waste it,
Smoking is harmful, still we taste it.
A peaceful voice, we hate it.
Loud music, Oh! we love it.

In feasts we go, instead of feeding the poor,
Weapons we use, instead of a peaceful hour.
Jealous are we with our rival,
I recommend you a Bible.

Patience is what we need,
And anger is what we make.
Try to be a little nice,
These are the words of wise.
