How Could One? Poem by Jacqueline Dougherty

How Could One?

Rating: 5.0

How could one not savor Love in its existence?

How could one not taste its sweet fruit?

How could one not feel the warmth it gives off?

How could one regret the greatest gift on earth?

How could one be blind to its effects or ignore its strength?

How could one avoid its aroma as it empowers the room?

How could one deny Love in such a way as to have never met it?

How could one not enjoy Love in its entirety but by pieces?

How could one abuse Love instead of treasure it and keep it close forever for once Love is hurt, it takes a long time to regain it?

How could one throw Love away and forget it all together?

How could one misguide Love and stand there as it dies with out helping it?

How could one see Love and not wish to be in it?

How could one never feel Love at all in their existence?

This one is very powerful. How could one ever do these things? But sadly, some do. You have captured its essence very well.
