How Did We Get Here Poem by gingerlee66 henderson

How Did We Get Here

Music seems so familiar
Same tunes night after night
Same faces here as the last time
It this what life has become.
How did we get here?

Night after night
we all sit here
sip after sip
hoping its enough to ease the loneliness

As the night comes to an end
you just hope the alcohol is enough
to forget where you will wake up
to regret where you are
but it was enough to fill
a brief moment of weakness
to just to be held.

But you realize there is
just not enough alcohol
to face yourself in the mirror
as you slip out of yet another strangers bed.

But as the day comes to an end
Back once again
familiar music
same tunes night after night.
