How I Know Love Poem by Nick Downer

How I Know Love

when i crawl beneath the covers
with her at night,
it feels like what I've been waiting for
my whole life.
Skin against skin is,
I'm sure,
what Heaven must feel like.
I love more than anything,
when she places random kisses on me.
I especially adore the way
she comes and kisses me
everytime she leaves to go somewhere,
even if she's only going to be gone
for a minute.
Her scent is something I'll never forget.
I love the way she smells.
I think I'll forever equate love with that scent.
I love tracing my fingertips
over her body.
She has the smoothest,
softest skin
and it's in those moments especially
that I realize how weird it is
that some people don't want
a woman in their bed every night.
I often wonder if my hands on her skin
ever starts to bother her,
but to me,
it's pure bliss,
especially when it makes her shiver,
then im gone.
I love this woman.
I wish more than anything
that I could see myself through her eyes
to see if her thoughts of love
feel as amazing as mine.
