How I Wish Poem by Fatin Hanani

How I Wish

How I wish
My mother was here
So when I have nightmares
She would vanquish my fear
I always heard her saying
'Have faith! God is near'
She made me believe
That tomorrow, everything would be clear

How I wish
My father was here
So when I have problems
He would be around to hear
All the advices that he gave
Boosted my confidence higher
He made me believe
That tomorrow, things would turn out better

How I wish
My sister was here
So when I feel sad
She would hold me dear
Her words gave me hope
And my heart felt lighter
She made me believe
That tomorrow, my days would be merrier

How I wish
My family was here
For when they were around
I would never have to shed any tear
Now things have changed
And never again will they appear
But I still believe
That their love stays with me forever

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written as a project in class. I really have no idea what to write. So I just scribbled anything that first came to my mind. And thus, it became like this. If there are any mistakes on grammar, I'm sorry. My English is not that much good and I'm still learning. Well as everyone can see, the poem is about a child who lost his/her family (actually I preferred that child to be a girl) . Truthfully I never experience anything like that (and hopefully NEVER!) . Maybe it's because I read too much novels that the feelings just came out like even though it's not real. I hope you can give honest review on this poem because I would really love to improve my skills. Anyway for anyone's information, this is actually my first poem...
