How Long? Poem by Justin Kulwicki

How Long?

I've lost count along with my mind
We've sat like this for how many times?
Just watching the clouds move in the wind
Holding onto the night so the day won't begin.

Sitting under the dark velvet night
watching shadows block the pale moonlight.
Wondering if toes go on the feet of a higher power.
How long has it been? Days? Years? Hours?

Right now, this is the only thing that matters.
Nothing in the world can compare.
If I could, I'd stop the world in this moment forever.
When might this moment come again?

How long must we wait for another time like this?
If it does come again, we might miss it.
So let's just stay here and see just
How long we can keep this moment for us.
