Hours Of The Night Poem by Justin Kulwicki

Hours Of The Night

Rating: 5.0

10 o'clock all is still
staring at the ceiling
tossing and turning
pacing
trying to tire myself out

11 o'clock I know!
i'll listen to music
that always calms me down
got my record player
now where did that beatles record go?
oh well
i shall listen to Mr. Sinatra then.

12 o'clock pacing
listening to the mamas and the papas for the third time
playing my guitar without the amp
musn't wake anyone up.
i'll try to tire myself out again
i'll do some push ups
and some sit ups too.
WHY CAN'T I SLEEP?
was it that large bottle of mountain dew i drank before
to keep me awake while i was studying?
no that can't be it.
whatever it is, i gotta get to sleep.

1 o'clock staring at the shadows on the wall moving back and forth.
i shall watch my lava lamp i do hope that i may
i will watch the stuff inside
move uupp annd doowwwn
uuuuup annnd doowwwn
wooowww it's soooo sooothing.

12 o'clock hanging upside down
off the side of my bed
letting the blood rush to my head
pondering the deep thoughts of the day
what's the sound of one hand clapping?
how many cups of sugar DOES it take to get to the moon?
what is the meaning of life?
are bert and ernie gay? what about tinky winky?

3 o'clock i hear a noise and i sit up.
i see a familiar face.
hey there Mr. Sandman.
aren't you a little late?
traffic was horrible in waikiki?
yeah, i bet.
you were chacking out the surfer girls
anyways, now that you've decided to show up,
get to work. i have a huge test tomorrow,
and i need my beauty sleep.
go ahead, spread your girly sparkly sandy pixie dust in my eyes
that's right i said it.
come on everyone was thinking it.

6 o'clock alarm buzzes
geez, it's time to get up already?
but i just went to sleep.
oh well, let's get started.
SHUT UP, alarm clock! I'M ALREADY UP!
let's get this day over with.
maybe i'll get more sleep tonight.
But probably not.

For some reason I felt you were having to study for a test. It seemed to be the only time I got my room cleaned up. Will never forget those times. Hope you do well. Studying seems to work like writing poems, works so much easier when it's not forced.Hope all works out well 10++
