How To Leave A Sleepless Night Poem by RIC BASTASA

How To Leave A Sleepless Night

the night is long
and sleep has not paid you
a visit

your body rolls on the bed
like a spring roll
your hands lay on the linen
helplessly
your heart beats faster
your arms are numb
your back is heated like a
fireplace
you start to burn in your mind
and you have no place to
run away
you keep yourself steady
saying no one rocks this boat
it will not sink in this
storm.....

light begins to break the darkness
hatching it like an egg and
shows an eggyolk
morning has come and gentle light
is filtered by the white silk curtain
there is warmth and caress
still in your loneliness.....

you rise from bed, go to the kitchen
gargle the water, brush your teeth
wash your face, and comb your hair
spray some perfume on your body
wear you shirt and pants and take
your coffee and take the bread and
butter thing

you are ready for the morning routine
office work, and conversations
it is another day, another moment,
another survival, you leave the night
with a smile, and meet people again,
and here we are again,
for another round of civility and
some pretensions.....

Sleepless nights painful Draining out all energy bound Missing the general cycle of cleansing Brain and mind does in preparation to day next. Good poetic expression. Thank-you.
