Hubris Poem by Joan Woodbridge

Hubris

Rating: 5.0

"Moloch! Moloch! Nightmare of Moloch! Moloch the loveless! Mental Moloch! Moloch the heavy judger of men! " from Howl, Allen Ginsburg,

The heavy cloak of righteous dignity
is off the shoulders of government
though the last to hold high office bore well
indeed, with grace

Now the lowest and the darkest shine:
the piggish
priggish
juvenile
p***y-grabbing
grade-school tweets
in the early day

the spoiled child
in high tantrum
prepares to rule the world
