Human Identity Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Human Identity

Stretching our arms towards the exalted skies
As our eyes gaze upon the distant stars
Is a gesture magnificent, proclaiming human identity
The urge to rise up, to venture upwards constitutes beauty,
Yes, the beauty of being and that of becoming blest
All the while acutely aware of our limits inherent
And braving agonies ahead, we dare the illimitable
Some voices surprise us, are they subtle whisperings,
Set to trap us into sorry pits, or are they heavenly admonitions
Designed to lift us up, and set us totally free from fears and furies?
