Hunger And The Kitchen Light

The little kitchen light
may not be very bright
but if it is switched on
allows you to look on.

Plugged in a wall socket
like your hand in pocket
it serves its purpose well
to have one you may tell.

Instead of the main light
that can be all too bright
this small one is so cool
and is used like a tool.

To have one is to know
and enjoy its soft glow
at times when it is dark
to curb a hunger stark.

If you're able to see
some food around to be
that you can quickly eat
the hunger you will beat.

You also may prepare
a meal on the stove there
following instructions
or cooking injunctions.

That little kitchen light
turned on during the night
lets you drink and to eat
so your hunger can treat.

Hunger is one main cause
of man's problems and wars
without some food to eat
he'll end up as dead meat.

This is the driving force
determining life's coarse
and will happen one day
at the end of man's stay.

But with life sorely rent
man's hunger not content
soul's rest won't be in peace
for hunger did not cease.
