Hunter Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Hunter

Hunter

Headed home
-was injured
-blood, red
-in wing pain

Had to go
Had to go
Had to go

Waited eggs
-and husband

Got to well
-to the nest

At bottom
-near end

In canal ran water
-greasy, fearsome,
-very dark

Last flap of the wing
-was nothing
-but a fall
-free fall
-on the eggs
-they turned red
-looked husband
-sympathy in his eyes

On canvas of four eyes
- "The gunner…"
- "The hunter…"
-and silent both of eggs

Two new victims of
-brutal genocide

Would die there
-before birth…
