Hurting Myself Poem by Julianna McLeod (LaPlante)

Hurting Myself

You hurt me more than a knife would
If it were stabbed in my heart, and
Ripped out of my chest, over and over
But I wouldn’t hurt you even if I could
I know it may sound unusual or strange
But you hurting me, makes me want to
Love you even more than I did before
I would never even want you to change
Because you hurting me would distract
Me from the hurt that I give to myself
