The Mask Of Dreamers - Poem by Julianna McLeod (LaPlante)

I see a light in the distance.
Shimmering, glimmering, its rays reaching out,
Almost as if calling for me.

It is something I have never had before.
It is like a hug I have never felt,
Or the love I have never received.

I need it.
I want it.
So I take it.

The light surrounds me like a cloak of security.
And whispers, 'Don't worry, Don't fear,
I love you and I will always be near'.

Three months later, I see what light really is,
It is just a mask in the world of 'what if? '.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I wrote this in grade 11. Decided to upload it. My English teacher absolutely loved it. What do you think?

your closing line is terrific, and rest is pretty good too. (Report) Reply
