Hurting Ourselves Poem by Patricia Christie

Hurting Ourselves

Rating: 3.8

It's funny how we talk about getting hurt by others
When at times we set ourselves up for getting hurt.

Becoming friends with someone you know can't be trusted by others
Someone who talks about everyone behind their backs
Cant keep a secret
That, s setting yourself up for getting hurt
They will give away your secret and talk about you behind your back

Going into a relationship to try and change a player
That's setting up yourself to get hurt
Your gonna get played if that person doesn't decide to change for you

Continuously hurting the one person who is always there for you
This is setting up yourself to get hurt
That person will eventually get tired of the pain your causing and leave, then you'll be all alone

We hurt ourselves sometime and don't even realize
