I Am A River Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

I Am A River

I have no time for attachments
I have to keep moving
Through hard rocks and steep slopes
I have to climb my way out of sticky situations
Escape through rough crevices
Make my way through the scotching heat
Day and night, I am always surrounded by dangerous beasts
Ready to devour my flesh and rip through my heart
But I have to be strong and pass through countless gaping mouths
It is not my nature to stop and hide
It is my way of life to ride through harsh conditions and extreme terrains
Regardless of the ever changing state of my being
Roaring and brutal water falls
I will always aim for calmness and peace
I will always rejoice in my resilient and compassionate heart
It is a celebration of who I am
I am a river of Love
And I am here to refurbish life
Rejuvenate the spirit of happiness
Plant the seed of hope
And be the ever flowing river of life
I am a river of inspiration
