I Am Grateful To You Poem by Mohammad Younus

I am grateful to You,
For the wisdom You reveal,
Guiding me along Your path,
Teaching me what to cherish,
And what to let go.

Grateful to You,
For standing by me
When no one else can be found,
When my heart falters,
And I turn only to You.
Thee alone do we worship,
And unto Thee alone
Do we seek aid.

You show Your love to me
When my eyes are too blind to see.
You help me understand You
Even when my words fail
To express the knowing of You.

'O Allah, I seek refuge
In Your pleasure from Your displeasure,
In Your pardon from Your wrath,
And in You—from You.
I cannot praise You enough.
You are as You have praised Yourself.'

And when I finally find You,
When I know You as The One,
The veil lifts, revealing life's purpose.
Where else could I go but Here—
With You, as Your humble student,
You, my eternal teacher.
