I Am Not Poem by Hannah Blair

I Am Not

I am not an ocean
I do not surround the world
Not with distress and separation
Not a tiger
Fangs a blur
Seeking prey for supper

I am not the lame prey
Waiting to be dinner
Quiet with fear
No one understands
The abandonment

I am not a complicated book
My pages not full of interpertations and confusion
But not a soul knows the reality but the author
Nor a dictionary
Or a choice to be decided
Little but real

I am not a building
Plain walls full of silence and secrets
No one tells a word
Small talk fills life with no truth
No meaning

I am not a steady heart
I beat at a different rate every second
Uncontrollable blood through my body
I may not be a origin
Or a vessel
I am not a path unfollowed
not yet
I know my way
not where I'm going

I am not a weathered stone
Living through rain, storm, and heat
I am not a dream
Unless we all are
Real?
Not unpredictable hair
A girl praying for right
I stand by my ideas
My truth is everywhere
I am not a defended
A defender
Not a rabid bear
Dangerous to all even myself

Not a robot
Fealings eat me alive
A mask doesn't chomp away my life
No one can hold me back
only myself

Whatever I am
I know
Or I will
I know where i stand even if others don't
I am not what I'm not
I am not, I am...
