Go tell your mama she was right...
I never understood why you all were so intimidated,
But I get it now.
The Xhosa in me is a lion,
Roaring the loudest to foes.
The Pedi in me a porcupine,
Piercing when protecting my own.
Two deadly armies, really—
I am war.
And you never appreciated a loaded weapon, did you?
Always wondered about its self-control Not to shoot.
