I Applaud You For Speaking Out Poem by Francis Duggan

I Applaud You For Speaking Out

You feel your contribution for the advancement of Humankind to much does not amount
But every positive word you speak for the common good does count
One tiny voice can grow to a roar and one can grow to a crowd
You speak on behalf of the underdog for that you should feel proud.

Your contribution it would seem should not be seen as small
When you speak for others human rights for a fair go for all
For to keep your silence on such matters would seem easy for to do
But you speak for the forgotten and for that I applaud you.

We tend to put our own selves first I know since I'm that way
Forget the poor souls of the slums since I am doing okay
But a loss of rights to someone else is a loss of rights to me
And silence at the suffering of others promotes more of inhumanity.

You feel your contribution a difference won't make
But every voice for a fair go for all the stranglehold will break
Of those who abuse their privilege of power by causing others pain
I applaud you for speaking out and may your sense of a fair go with you remain.
