I Ask To See Myself Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

I Ask To See Myself

Up
all night
watching stars
moonlight radiance
this is the night of self revelation.

I ask to see myself in the darkness
not hidden there
only here
on this
bench.

Light
at night
makes you watch
even shadows
you wonder how there are so many shapes.
