I Can Feel You Across The Miles Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

I Can Feel You Across The Miles

I can feel you in the distance
I can feel you in the vapor
and in my spirit and my vim
I can feel you across the miles
echoing in the mountains
and in my cries and smiles
gentle heart so sad and grim
I can feel you in the moonbeams
and in the morninglight
I can feel your heart aching
whether such feeling is wrong or right
but when I miss you most
is in the silence of the night
when darkness is all that's left of bright
when my heartbeat grows dim and slight
when I feel like giving up
and letting go
and abandoning the fight
your spirit comes to me
caresses my soul
and holds me tight
I'd give all of myself to you
with hope you'd treat me with kindness
and treat me right
and I dream of love
though my hopes feel so slight
and wish you feel something for me
and hope somehow you might
but this lonely night
please stay with me
hold me tight
