I Can'T Believe It's Not Butter Poem by Lindsay King

I Can'T Believe It's Not Butter

can you taste the difference
the saltine feeling
its not moot, i promise you
take my hand,
swear we can make it
oh shut up
don't tell me to
listen to what i am saying
laying it on too thick
careless calories
i smell it all over me
it was more bitter,
but exhilarating
did i do it for attention
i just want to hear it loud
you're just a
microwave dinner
to this gourmet feeling
but i crave the sodium
and preservatives
find a way
to save this relationship
why can't you taste the difference
'cause if you could
i know you'd slap me
across my damned face
but it would be worth it
oh it would be worth it
swear we can find a way
i'm starving for salvation
feed me full
getting fat off your words
but your actions are the best exercise
