I Caught Myself Poem by Matty Reynolds

I Caught Myself

I caught myself staring off,
Just for a moment;
Staring off wishing I could see your eyes.
Staring off into you,
Through you-
Through to the barest part of you.

The clash-bang of the press
Brought me back to the
Task at hand, the pressing issue.
My mind consumed with remembering
That knowing glance.
That wandering stare.
Those soft hands and pale blue eyes.

Press is loaded again and I'm
Fumbling for that memory, that thought,
Those eyes- that night.
The shockingly aware gaze
You have when I walk in a room.
The soft touch across my hand
shared for a second and tucked away.
That lost gaze behind closed doors
And beautiful blue, guilty eyes.
