I Cherish Simple Pleasures Poem by Raymond Farrell

I Cherish Simple Pleasures

Rating: 4.0

I cherish simple pleasures
They are a solace
In this age
Of stress, speed and distraction
A walk by the river
A few minutes
Sitting by the flowing water
Listening to its soft steady murmuring
Soothes my soul and removes me
Even if momentarily
From the tensions of modern life
The therapeutic value of such moments
Cannot be quantified
But are nevertheless
Important to my survival
Allowing me to avoid
Being swept up by
And taken downstream
By the current
Of the day.

Ah! Swept up by the current or fashion of the day. Water can soothe but also punish. Enjoyed your reflective thoughts on the value of serenity.
