So you left this morning, I couldn’t question why.
Looking into my eyes, you felt the pain from deep within,
‘But this time’, this time I wasn’t going to stop you,
You would not have let me in anyway.
Carrying your bags, you opened the door to leave,
Looking back at me, yuh hoped to catch a glance off me,
But these eyes were too heavy to lift.
‘It’s going to be fine’ you sadly whispered,
I could not find the words to ease our hearts;
I had no more words left for the both of us,
Gently was that final hug before the engine started to roam.
Holding tight the steering, I knew that was forever
Not even those tears from your eyes would stop you,
Behind me I closed the door to our tiny cottage,
Behind us I closed the door to our past…
