I could not sleep last night
For my soul tormented me
All the responsibilities that I willingly shirked
Loomed uglier than nightmares and irked me
I could not sleep last night
For some kind faces reminded me
That life’s purpose is to love it and their advice
Reverberated in the shallow citadels of my conscience
I could not sleep last night
For there was a renaissance within me
This sleeplessness nourished my abstemious thought
Brought back my healthful self to me
