I Do Not Know Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

I Do Not Know

I
blew a kiss
with pouted lips,
and let it chart
a silent course
deep within
your restless heart.

I clasp my hands
to offer you
a simple prayer,
and bow my head
with sanctimonial gesture
before I ask Him
for blessing too:
just for you
just for me,
and all others
I cannot see.

My eyes are closed
to hide the sin
I face within
this journey
of life,
where I go
I do not know.
