I Do Not Need To Know Poem by Francis Duggan

I Do Not Need To Know

I do not need to know of how marvellous you are
Or of the price that you paid for your new mercedes car
You are materially successful for to give you your due
But to your own higher self are you one who is true?
Your employees of you do not have kind things to say
And in your employment so few wish to stay
Of you their opinions say more than material things can
You are not after all such a marvellous man
Materially wealthy but your soul is in poverty
You are not the one you make yourself out to be
As a person in ways you do seem very small
And you do not seem to know yourself that well at all
So i do not wish to hear of your wonderful life
And of the cruise you were on with your children and wife.
