I Don'T Really Feel That Homesick Poem by Francis Duggan

I Don'T Really Feel That Homesick

I don't really feel that homesick as of that I've had my fill
But I oft times think of Ireland and my home by Clara hill
And the green fields around Millstreet Town and the bogs of Claraghatlea
In North Cork and Duhallow where it rains most every day.

But I'm happy in Australia 'tis a beautiful Country
'Tis a vast Land and a great Land where the spirit can feel free
It's a Land of working people where hard working people thrive
Whilst in Ireland things are different there hard workers just survive.

What I miss most about Ireland is the sunday kick around
With the K R R footballers at the famous Inch field ground
And though all of that in past tense and I'm getting on in years
When I think back on those happy days my heart fill up with tears.

And those strolls on evenings in late Spring with Jack my collie dog
In the green fields around Clara and through Jack the Master's bog
And the high wood by the mountain where the orange breast robin sing
His sweetest song of Summer in the lenghtening days of Spring

And though I do love this Australia this Land of sun and birdsong
I must return to Ireland for 'tis there I do belong
I was born and raised in that Land in Duhallow far away
Near the North Cork Town of Millstreet in a place called Claraghatlea.
