I Don't Recall.... Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

I don't recall with clarity
the first time that our lips embraced.
Or dream about how good it felt
remembering the feel and taste

I'm sure I've quite forgotten how
your silly jokes would make me smile,
or how your open, honest views
just didn't fit my new life style

It's all a blur, not even clear,
in fact sometimes your name escapes.
I never think about you now
and no, it's not just sour grapes

I'm thankful that I realised
that you could never be,
the one good thing within my life,
the perfect man for me

So why is it that every moment
of each endless day,
My heart just breaks regretting how
I threw true love away? ....
