The cold makes me feel guilty
The bitterness of the wind’s breath
The sharpness of a slamming car door
The tighter I pull my coat together
The faster I rub my red hands
The worse I feel about the world
And the people alone in it
All the people in the street
And the blackened alleyways
Seek shelter from the frost
And I turn up my radio
For a sad, lonely song
The chill is in my bones now
The cold makes me feel guilty
It’s so cold tonight…
