I Forget Sometimes Poem by Edwina Reizer

I Forget Sometimes

I forget sometimes
What it was like to be young.
But then comes that instant
Like a word on the tip of your tongue
That gets muddled in the mind
and becomes hard to find.
I realize that memories fade.
And some I can't get back.
Yet some are so vivid,
some so exact.

I remember moving quickly,
never wanting to wait.
I remember impatience,
hating to be late.
I remember strange sensations
that came so quick.
I remember listening
to my clock that would tick.
But most of my youth
I've forgotten today.
Somehow it got lost
as I made my way.
How that happened
I forget sometimes.
