I Found It On The Street Poem by Kayla Welch

I Found It On The Street

I'm searching for something
Not quite sure what it is
I'm searching for something
Here on this street
It must be here somewhere
Where else could it be?
I'm not sure if it's clothing
Maybe a necklace, or cab
It could be anything
I look at the crowd of people
Rushing on with there lives
They aren't looking for anything
They don't see anything at all
They just walk quickly in line
I do not
I walk on the curb, though it's not safe
I walk on it like a balancing beam
I pretend I'm searching the sea
The deserts, and forest for whatever it is I'm looking for
I fall
My bottom hits the concrete and people still keep walking
They can't see me
They're too busy to care
I look up at what I've hit
And what do you know, it's there
What I've been looking for
It hit me right on the head
He takes my hand and helps me to my feet
We both walk together on the curb
Down the busy street
