I Go Slowly Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Go Slowly

I GO SLOWLY

I go slowly
I cannot move in thought
Why am I so still inside?
Nothing moves.
I cannot lift the weight of my own mind
Slowly slowly and more slowly
I try to wake-
Line after line repeats the same thought
I move only in repetition-
All and all and all and all
I am nothing again forever -
And why must I try again and again
To prove otherwise?
