I Had So Much Inside Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

I Had So Much Inside

I had so much inside to say
but all the words stuck in my throat
There was silence in the air
Locked in the belltower
In a lonely castle
Surrounded by a moat
As the jailer took the key
And took off on the last boat
I was struggling for air
Strangled in my coat
And the little bird that had found me
flew off with my last hope
