I Have Grown Greyer And Older Poem by Francis Duggan

I Have Grown Greyer And Older

I have grown greyer and older but i have not grown more wise
And how little i know about life I've come to realize
And though no fool like an old fool some have been known to say
A lesson or two for us all from living life each day,
I've seen a little bit of life in the bigger World out there
And through the years I've had my few small crosses for to bear
But compared to millions I've been lucky never lived rough on the street
Never have gone to bed hungry and always knew of enough to eat
The sun has risen many times since i was seventeen
Though just a little of the World i can claim to have seen
And though from the fields by my old home i have moved further south
Of any great adventures i cannot write about
And though for my existence i have gray hairs to show
The more i learn about life of life the less i know i know.
