I heard whispers
at the Mountain of Light,
where revelation descends.
Circumambulating the House—
Kaaba at Makkah—
I found the promised light,
gleaming in unity.
Circulators chanted,
voices in unison—resonating,
reaching for the Divine:
"I respond to Your call, O Allah!
I respond to Your call.
You have no partner—
I respond to Your call.
All praise, all blessings,
are Yours alone.
All sovereignty is Yours,
and You have no partners."
I sat upon the prayer mat,
within the sacred sanctuary
of my heart—there too,
my soul echoed the talbiyah's song.
On this journey to the House of God,
there was no chariot, no supersonic plane—
only the lifting of blindfolds
from my eyes,
and the unplugging of ears,
by the gentle hand of the Divine.
A note whispered, softly,
like breath upon my spirit:
"You have arrived.
You have arrived."
