I Keep Hurrying Poem by Sonja Manojlović

I Keep Hurrying

I keep hurrying
a man and a woman
a child and an old man
are stomping at the door
I give my hand now to one, then to the other
and I guide one well, I don't let the other one move
I don't hesitate
From one little face to another, thin, perfect, airy
I don't take them for myself, not for a tiny part of myself,
not as much as can be put on the tip of the knife,
not today, not tomorrow, or ever
when in front of the house there are
human jobs and roses
