I Know Poem by Dava Makiah

I Know

I'm honest because that's all i know
and i shouldn't tell you the half of it
but it all comes spilling out
and some how you
cradle it
and put it to rest
which keeps me at peace
and feeling somewhat
close to my best
but how come
everytime you close the door
it slams
and everything you've lain to simple
stands up awake
leaving me in a space filled
with all your buried rage
i see you and you can be so two-faced
it's too easy
the puzzle like pieces
the smoke and mirrors
the innocence is a mask
and i'm not that stupid
but truth be told
there's something in you i needed
so don't let go
promise me that when we can
we'll see and spend
time in eachother
because your my big investment
and one of these days i'm going
to want to get paid
even though i know i take time
to ride the trains
and it has brought you pain
i believe in you
because i met you back when you
were me
or i was you
and i'm not that simple
and it's not that complex
but i'm not use to being
on this side of the fence
and still it's a fence
and love is not enough
to keep us going
i have nothing to say to you
when i see
you and
being all ears just isn't
always for me
you like to wear wigs these
days and
spotlights are the only thing
you see
too bad they are only
in dirty bars where people
get to see you
guess what?
that's all they'll ever be
and no i won't be here
to pick up the pieces
i've moved so far on
i'm not even a member
of your country
