I Know

I held your hand to comfort you,
And said you'll be okay,
My eyes held yours to show you this,
And I continued to say,
That even in the end of things,
Still, you'll be okay,
You held my gaze,
Right where you lay,
Then spoke a potent phrase,
With your words so slow,
In your final days,
You simply said "I know.."
