I Know No Other Way Poem by Arun Maji

I Know No Other Way

if I see you
I feel like- touching you, kissing you.
I know
you don't quite like it;
but I know no other way
than this way of loving you.

It's like- that bee
who just can't help himself
drinking honey of his only flower.
if he flies over that flower-
he must embrace that flower
he must drink from her.

I know
love is just not physical;
but tell me-
how it works
that I love something
but I don't touch it, caress it?

I know no human
who does not want to kiss her love.
I know no human
who does not do secret things with her love.

as such I am a gentleman,
except when I am with you.
then-
I am wild as the wind, and hungry as the beast.

but the problem is-
I am always with you.
if you are before me
I kiss you with my lips.
if you are far from me
I kiss you with my dream.
reality is-
I kiss you anyway-
anywhere, anytime.

funnily, I am never tired of kissing you
I am never full from drinking you.
if I kiss you once
I feel like doing it twice.
if I kiss you twice
I feel like kissing you two million times.

It's always one after the other-
I see you first,
then touch you
then kiss you
then drink you
then do those same things again and again
again and again.

if my eyes are on the sky-
don't think I am seeing sky.
It's you I am seeing there.
More precisely-
I am then climbing your golden yellow hills
or I am swimming in your gluey gluey honey.

you may ask me-
does love really have to be this way?
well, what can I do-
I know no other way
than this way.

stupid me
I know no other way!
stupid, stupid, stupid!
