I Lie In Bed Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Lie In Bed

I lie in bed,
trying to wake from deep sleep,
And hear whispers,
morning after morning,
Sweet melodies on repeat.
From eternity, I've been fond of
This relentless music,
Beautiful, divine images flicker
behind closed eyes,
Like a beloved glimpsed in disguise.
Something beyond words—
Is it the divine?
A rose blooming in desert sand?
I open my eyes, and it's gone,
Like a shy maiden hiding her face,
Yet winking through nature's gaze.
If I keep my eyes closed,
the light and music remain,
But still, I can't explain.
