I Like Poem by Marilyn Jean

I Like

What are you like?
What would it be?
Why not wonder
I know the negative
But not the positive

That leaves quite a lot
That is very convenient
I like almost everything
But done hardly nothing
I am up for catching up

This is too easy
Even what I like least
I can be convinced
I am curious above all
I dream you are like me

Surely you are
But never mind
I can soon adapt
Or change my mind
Or try and forget

I like contrast
I like variety
I like opposites
Real or apparent
I like motion

I like do nothing
Or go to exhaustion
Simply do what is needed
Well done or to perfection

The sea
The wind
Snow storms
Frost on the grass
And a spring sunrise

I like little birds
Dogs, cats and hamsters
Wolf, dolphins and caterpillars
And many more, all maybe

I like trees and the forest
Meadows, hedges and rivers
Rocks and beaches
Mountains and rolling hills

I like surprises
Singing and swimming
Painting and dreaming
Talking and laughing

I like rice, soup, salad and cheese
Bread, eggs, all fruits or vegs
Coffee, chocolate and spices
I like everything but extreme tasting
I like a glass of wine but not be drunk

I like to get dirty in the garden
And sweaty as I run
Or warmed by discussion
I like a big cleaning
And fresh start

I like a nap and long shower
I like to wake and enjoy a minute
Or to rush and do what needs doing
I like to go to sleep early
And sometimes no at all

I like so many things
I like everyone
This is not obvious, true
This is complicated

Yet, where are you?
