I Like... Poem by Barry Van Allen

I Like...

I like multi - colored skies,
and I like puffy clouds as they drift by,
and I like quiet lakes around the sunset,
and I like running kids all soaking wet.

I like fresh cut grass on summer days,
and I like early morning's foggy haze,
and I like winter fires all ablaze,
and I like pleasing smells from yesterdays.

I like rabbit's ears and puppy tails,
and I like little sounds from great big whales,
and I like rushing streams on mountain sides,
and I like clumsy grooms with blushing brides.

I like the smell of wood that's freshly cut,
and I like people who will trust their gut,
and I like monster movies late at night,
and I like catching fish and flying kites.

I like muscle cars and I like books,
and I like those who gave more than it took,
and I like machines that work the way they should,
and I like walking through my neighborhood.

I like valley farms and mountain cabins,
and I like slippery sheets of pure white satin,
and I like watching horses running free,
and I like sailing ships on open seas.

I like games I know that I can win,
and I like gentle rain on roofs of tin,
and I like autumn when it's crisp and sunny,
and I'd like lots and lots and lots of money,
... but her I love.
